2010 OHALAH CONFERENCE APPLICATION

Pre-Conference Shabbaton: 4 pm on Friday through havdalah on Saturday ALEPH Ordination Ceremony: Sunday 2 to 4 pm Conference: 4 pm on Sunday through noon on Wednesday OHALAH rates begin at $59 per night unlimited occupancy. The OHALAH Conference is a Collaborative Project of: WHO MAY ATTEND THE CONFERENCE •Rabbinic, cantorial and rabbinic pastor students and AJR chaplain students in good standing. •ALEPH board, senior staff and ethics committee. •Spouses and partners of qualified conference registrants. OHALAH reserves the right to verify your status as a member of the clergy or as a clergy student. CONFERENCE LOCATION SLEEPING ROOM RATES – If you make your sleeping room reservations prior to Dec. 7, 2009, and tell them you are attending the OHALAH conference will enjoy the following rates: (Normal rates begin at $189.) $59 per night for single, double, queen, two queens, or king $89 per night for two queens in the executive tower Suites are also available. SHUTTLE SERVICE – The Crowne Plaza provides free shuttle service from 6 am to 10 pm between the hotel and the St. Louis International Airport, and between the hotel and destinations in the hotel neighborhood. Information about taxicab service from 10 pm to 6 am will be made available to conference registrants. REGISTRATION - Use the application below to pre-register for the conference. PLEASE DO NOT purchase travel tickets until you receive confirma-tion that your application has been accepted. Please register at the conference desk at the hotel on Fri. between 2 & 5 pm or Sun. between 1 & 5 pm. SHABBATON - The Shabbaton is led by ALEPH clergy students. We begin at 4 pm on Fri., Jan. 8 and conclude with havdalah on Jan. 9. Shabbaton fee includes Fri. dinner, Sat. breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. ORDINATION CEREMONY – The ordination ceremony of the ALEPH Ordination Program will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Relatives and friends of ordainees are welcome to also attend the Shabbaton. However, the conference is for clergy and students only. CONFERENCE - The Conference program is led by clergy with student participation. The program begins at 4 pm on Sun., Jan. 10 and concludes at noon on Wed., Jan. 13. Conference fee includes all meals from Sun. dinner through Wed. lunch. Shabbaton and conference schedules will be available two weeks prior to the conference. ETHICS: Beginning July 1, 2008, clergy who attend the OHALAH conference are subject the OHALAH Ethics Code, and non-clergy are subject to the ALEPH Ethics Code. This is reflected in the signed statement on the conference application below, and is in keeping with the common practice of professional clergy associations. The ALEPH and OHALAH codes contain policies regarding financial and sexual professional ethics. HANDOUTS - If you have material you want share, please bring 50 to 200 copies and place them on the public information table. You may reclaim your remaining handouts at the end of the conference. DEADLINES - If your application is postmarked by Oct. 1, 2009, you may take the early bird discount. If your application is postmarked after Dec. 7, 2009, you will be subject to the late fee.
